John Mackleroy, born about 1690, died 1763 is the oldest of our know ancestors. HIs exact date of birth, marriage and death is not known nor is the name of his wife jnown. We think hewr fist name was Frances and they were married in 1712.
Notice the differnece in spelling of his name. It is believed that he lived in the vicinity of Baltimore, Maryland as many of his childrfen were born there. Apparently he later migrated to Union County, NC as deed records show that he sold property to one of his son-in-laws, a John Belk, Sr. (
In 1761 a deed of sale from Earl of Granville to John McElroy of 365 acres of land was proved by the oath of Theophilus Hunter and ordered to be registered. John McElroy gave a deed of gift to John Belk (one of his sons-in-law) in 1763, the same year that John McElroy died. Johnson Co, NC )
John Mackleroy was the great, great, great grandfather of James Lewis McLeroy.
