Mary Bryan (Half-Indian)
When Mattie Claudia Bryan married William Walter Rast, her mother, Lucy Bryan, gave her Aunt Mary and her husband, Uncle Dave Bryan. When slaves were freed, they preferred to stay on with the family; and did until their deaths. Aunt Mary was the last former slave surviving in Brooks County Georgis. AUnt Lela refers to her in a letter she wrote to Loy in 1917. This picture was made in 1913 by Loy Rast.
